How To Use A Usb Mic In Fl Studio Mac

The iMic is compatible with any Mac that has built-in USB ports and is running Mac OS 10.3.9 or later. As for earlier versions of OS X, the iMic will probably work, but you may need an earlier version of Final Vinyl or other recording software ( Contact us if you need a version of Final Vinyl not available on the iMic Support page.). Select recording tab and select “microphone”. Click on “Properties” button. Select “listen” tab and uncheck “Listen to this device”. Hit “OK” and go the “Playback” tab. Open FL Studio, open the options menu and go to the Audio Settings and set the device to Focusrite USB ASIO. You'll also need to set playback tracking to either Hybrid or Mixer. You can change the buffer size from the ASIO Control Panel, which you can open by clicking 'Show ASIO Panel' Step 3. Pro Tip: Most interfaces have a 1/4″ headphone jack. This is larger than the 1/8″ plug on most consumer headphones. To use consumer headphones with your interface, you’ll need an 1/8″ to 1/4″ adapter. Most interfaces will connect to your computer using USB, FireWire, or Thunderbolt. USB microhpones are not a good solution because of this (having to select them as audio interface), they are better for podcasts and radio. My advice would be to exchange it for a normal microphone (the Blue Spark) and get a proper audio interface (UR12 by Steinberg starts at 99 USD) with microphone preamps. If you’re using a microphone connected to your computer’s audio input port, choose Built-in Input. If Built-in Input doesn’t appear in the menu, choose GarageBand Preferences, click Audio/MIDI, and choose Built-in Input from the Audio Input pop-up menu. If you’re using a microphone connected to a USB port, choose the microphone.

Feb 15, 2010 FL studio comes with different audio drivers, like the FL Studio Asio and asio4all. You most likely can also choose the driver for the soundcard itself. If you choose the fl studio asio, click on the 'show asio panel', there you can choose the default input if you want. Read the post WaterIsGolden linked to.

Hello all,
I received a Blue Snowball USB mic (please reserve your criticisms, I know this isn't exactly quality, budget was the main factor here) for Christmas this year intending to use it to start practicing home recording, mostly covers and scratch tracks for original material.
So anyways, when I plugged it in and prepared to record, I noticed the red recording dot was greyed out/white-ish and it wasn't reacting to my talking/tapping. After, messing with some settings, various google searches, making sure Ableton was recognizing it and it was selected in the input options, I finally got it to work by going the in the Audio Preferences>Hardware Setup and switched from my Realtek Audio to the Snowglobe.
SO! My question is will I have to contasntly switch back and forth between hardware settings in order to use this mic in Ableton? Because if that's, the case I cant hear the metronome or rhythm tracks/drums and that's obviously a major issue.
Also, I've considered reverting to using Audacity for recording, especially guitar covers. Will I run into a similar issues or is that actually a better route to go for just some raw recordings?
Eventually I'll attempt to use it for environment recording, live sampling, percussive sampling etc. But that's for future endeavors and not related to now.
Thanks Ableton community!! Hope to be posting and becoming more involved in this community in this new year!
